I'm kind of torn over whether to watch the England match this afternoon. On the one hand I like football and if it's a half-decent game, I'll probably enjoy it, but on the other there's the bloody hype so far and the fact that it could be the most opportune time to pop to the supermarket etc. ever invented! ;)

Bone idle today, so I expect I will...

Far too hot to go shopping, you loon! Sit down, partake of the cooling liquids, and watch like the rest of us!

I'm having to rethink my plan of watching while I hot-gun the rest of the varnish off the staircase. I was doing that in the last cold rainy bit, and sweated like arse about three minutes in. Hot gun today maybe not so smart idea?

I'd certainly say using the hot gun today isn't the best idea you've ever had! ;)

Supermarket. Seriously. It's *fabulous* on the afternoons of big matches. So quiet, the shelves full, the staff subdued and pouty. If you spin it out long enough you get to miss the team fucking up (if they do), or you get to watch the gleeful edited highlights of all the bits you need in the office on Monday (if they don't fuck up). It's a win, win, win strategy for the non-footballer.

My problem with that is that it involves a) getting dressed and b) leaving the house, and I'm just bone idle today... but otherwise, I agree. My personal favourite is usually FA Cup Final day. ;)

God yes. I didn't even realise it was on, except Sainsburys was deserted so I knew there had to be some big match, and then someone posted later that it had been the FA final. I pay a *lot* of attention to sports...

The exception to this is in the morning when everyone and their mother is shopping for cheap booze to drink during the match. I was at Tesco and you'd have thought there was a looming ban on alcohol.

The trick is to actually go during the match. ;)

You'll have to excuse me, I left my brain behind with the roaming wallabies.

*g* This is why I specified afternoon :-) I used to work a till in a supermarket, and the trolley-loads of beer that people brought through... and then the afternoon, deserted except for the gleeful few *g*

But that's only a couple of hours, three tops. *whine* I think they should make the matches five hours long - that would give us more time for non-football pursuits and make the players work harder for all that money. There might even be real more goals.

I took the kids to Whipsnade. Absolutely brilliant. Few screaming kids and their sceaming parents screaming at the kids for screaming at the animals. No queues. Perfect picnic spot. Perfect weather. Perfect peace and quiet. When is the next match so I can start planning a trip to Alton Towers? ;-)

Unfortunately the next two are Thursday and Tuesday, afternoon and evening respectively. But if England manage to get through to the next round, something for the weekend of 24/25 June is looking good! ;)
