Of course, it would be this week that I'm really busy at work, including a day-trip down to London for a conference tomorrow and all sorts of stuff kicking off, when I should be checking my zine fics and also tinkering with my
tealc_ficathon story. Which is probably going to be well over 8,000 words at this rate, unless I can make it do what I want solely by rearranging what I already have (which is possible). It's damned inconsiderate of my employers to make me go into work and actually do stuff before they'll pay me. ;)
Speaking of work, we're all about to change over to a centrally-managed expenses system, so I look forward to months of buggering about to get my mileage etc. Since this is local government, they set up a pilot group but then proceeded to say 'well, we're going to introduce it on April 1st anyway' regardless of the fact that the pilot group were having problems with it and that they'd not organised any training for everyone else. And then there was a mad rush of people submitting mileage under the old system, which meant that a bunch of us didn't get what we should have had last month because we got gazumped. Pffft.
Still, I am supposed to be receiving training on Friday, which should give me the chance to also put in claims for all that car parking I could never be bothered to find out how to get reimbursed. So it's not all bad!
Have also developed odd craving for Christmas cake-style fruit cake, which has now been assuaged courtesy of Asda. ;)

Date: 2006-04-24 08:23 pm (UTC)This is my first proper 'omg, they really are willing to pay through the nose for my training' experience with my new employers, so I'm also happy about that...
