Boxset hell

This year looks like being tv series boxset hell for me - here I am, packing a load of stuff away (I mean literally boxes full of tv show tapes) and the tv companies insist on putting out boxsets that call my name and plead for me to buy them. It's a conspiracy, I tell you!

Even without the promised season 1 Man from UNCLE, over which sad saga we shall draw a veil for now, this is how 2006 is shaping up already:

Bought: Magnificent Seven season 1

Pre-ordered: Wild Wild West season 1, Slings and Arrows season 1

Hoping to get a better price in the US next month, but they will be mine: Boston Legal season 1, Numb3rs season 1, Wonderfalls

Things to which I am giving serious consideration, many of them out later this year: The Adventures of Brisco County Junior, ReGenesis season 1, Rome season 1, Life on Mars season 1, Carnivale season 1, Invisible Man season 1 (in two boxsets, so twice the evil!), Veronica Mars season 1, Threshold

Things I would buy in a heartbeat if they came out: Man from UNCLE *wails*, the rest of Wild Wild West, Magnificent Seven season 2, and probably other stuff I'm not thinking of right now...

See what I mean? Anyway, I'm sure I'm not alone in the contents of my wallet being sucked away by shiny things, so what's on your shopping list for this year? ;)

Having got all of The Sentinel on tape, I'm not sure I can bring myself to buy it on dvd... and I'd forgotten Threshold. *adds that to list*

Boston Legal Season 1 - preordered.
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - already purchased Season 1, will get Season 2 (and any further season releases)
NCIS - is it out yet? I know it's been promised
Magnificent 7
Due South - I know this has been out for a while, but I do have to consider the household budget occasionally and its been rerunning on satellite
UFO - whichever season it is I haven't got
X-files - Season 3 to 7
Captain Scarlet (new CGI series) - Season 2
Captain Scarlet original - Volume 2 (I have 1, 3, 4 and 5)
Comanche Moon (the new mini-series starring my pretty New Zealander)
Sharpe - new series airing tonight

NCIS is due out June 6th.

And as for Due South, jeez those boxsets are expensive! Am also a heretic, since I only really like the Kowalski years, which is much more due to the hotness of CKR than anything else... ;)

I want SGA S1, but can't seem to source a R2 version with ep commentaries on it. Don't want R1, since the quality of the image is never as good. The Sentinel S1 has just arrived, and it has no extras whatsoever, which is very disappointing. I have Mag7 S1 (no extras, dammit), am getting most of the SG-1 S9 DVDs as they come out (with commentaries!), and am debating whether to get a couple more shows.

I guess you can tell why I buy DVD boxsets *g*

On the wishlist would be Man From Uncle (with extras), more TS (with extras!), and NCIS (which is out this year but with very few extras, from what I've read).

I used to buy films on DVD, but I just don't really do that these days. I much prefer the in-depth character stuff that I get from series television.

The lack of extras is just Wrong and Bad, but I'd take UNCLE any way I could get it. *sigh*

And I probably wouldn't buy that many movies if it wasn't for being utterly addicted to Hong Kong stuff. Other than that I think the most recent movies I've bought have been the newest HP, Howl's Moving Castle and Mystery, Alaska.
