If there's one thing that bugs me about a wide variety of satellite channels, it's that they seem to run the same ads for their own shows over and over and over and over again. And while I could happily watch Living TV's Alan/Denny Boston Legal ad repeatedly, I surely can't be the only one who wants to kick Ricky Gervais in his smug, smirking, self-congratulatory face?

This isn't part of the supposed Ricky Gervais backlash, btw, which I saw touted somewhere as part of the whole 'Brits don't like successful people' idea - I never liked the guy or thought he was funny... ;)

Me either. Don't much like Little Britain either. With satellite though I keep catching odd bits of Blackadder, Drop the Dead Donkey, Fry and Laurie and find myself laughing out loud.

But then I guess one reason why I enjoy Boston Legal is that they are tackling big issues and taking the mickey out of them - like the lovely throwaway "Smiling's over-rated" showing a pic of Tom DeLay - not just trying to make us laugh at personal remarks.

Well, I've always been a big fan of where the absurd and the clever overlap, so the merely stupid I usually find vastly overrated. And don't get me started on what I think about the vast majority of American sitcoms... ;)

Drop The Dead Donkey! I used to love that. Fry and Laurie were just wonderful. I listen to Punt and Denis these days on the radio but they're not quite at the same level.
