graculus: (It's all Cyc's fault)

Busy busy busy last week - I'd forgotten just how knackering running training is and I was involved in about 3 days worth of it over the week. Still, we've got this coming week off and then we're running it again. Deep joy. The positives of it are that I wrote the vast majority of it, handouts and all, and while it continues to evolve as we run it and see what does and doesn't work, it's generally been very well-received.

I've also been landed with the job of running a working group to examine the implications of one part of the new legislation we'll shortly be working with and while it seemed a simple enough task at first, it's looking more and more complex as I think about it. It could end up forcing a reorganisation of how we do particular things, just in time for us to have an official reorganisation too. It'll be interesting to see if the law makes us do stuff in a way that completely overturns existing procedures and the complaints of disgruntled staff.

Anyway, I was reassured again by one of the senior managers that come the official reorganisation, my job is more than safe. Apparently I'm one of a very small handful of people who can say that their current role will continue pretty much unaffected.

Meanwhile, in other news - the car needed a new water pump and an alternator belt. This turned out to be a little less pricey than I'd anticipated but I was still glad it happened near payday. The hire car went back on Tuesday evening, much dirtier than when I got it, and it was really strange driving my old clunker again after a brand new motor with responsive steering and a much quieter engine. Still, if I can get another year out of my existing car (considering the amount of mileage I'm now doing because of the new job) before I start worrying about getting something else, it'll be a bonus. The last thing I need is to be moving house and changing cars in a short space of time...

Got to get cracking on finishing my [livejournal.com profile] muncle challenge story - I'm glad I didn't foolishly sign up for other stuff (I know my limits!) though I have other fic in the works. I'm nearing the end of the Ezra/Chris story, which has been really well-received and I'm quite happy with it, which anyone who knows me will know is a rare concurrence! ;)

Oh, and I got an early Christmas present (*smooches [livejournal.com profile] obelix*), though apparently her motives weren't completely altruistic! :P

Oh and I got my own package, have I squealed enough yet? Whitnail and I, Whitnail and I, Whitnail and I *bounce, bounce, bounce* Yes I've eaten some of the choccies why do you ask? *bounce, bounce, bounce*

Expect a package in the next couple of weeks, it might just have a certain movie with a certain actor...

And I'm sure we'll actually be in the same piece of cyberspace as one another at some point... ;)

oh oh... if by Ezra/Chris story you mean 'Obligations', then I am soooo looking forward to the next parts. It's a fantastically written tale with a very interesting alternate take on the seven's beginnings. Plus I just adore E/C... so yes - really well-received by this reader :bg:

Yep, I'm still working on 'Obligations' and can see the finish line in the distance (22,000 words, give or take, and I think it's about 70% done) - glad to hear you're enjoying it and now my UNCLE stuff is out of the way I hope to get it finished in the next couple of weeks. :)
