I subscribe to a bi-monthly magazine called Wanderlust, which can only be described as travel porn. It's the kind of magazine that tells you the best places to stay in Kamchatka and gives you tips for bicycling in Cuba, along with fabulous photos of all the stuff you're missing out on...

And in some ways, reading that magazine, I'm led to feel that I have been missing out, though I've seen a number of nice places in the US and Canada combined with my trips over there for various conventions.

I guess this thought is partly fuelled by my goggling at the price of hotels in Boston when I was considering what side-trip to make for next year's MW jaunt and deciding actually I'd rather pad out my trip to exotic Lansing by stopping off in Chicago and then go somewhere entertaining when I get back. Somewhere that's not too hot in June, since I'm not really a hot weather person.

Oh, and I still have a couple of weeks worth of annual leave to take which I probably ought to get rid of in February-March time so any suggestions for where might be nice to visit then will be gratefully received...

Are you a city person or a spectacular scenary person? If the latter, I can recommend Iceland for June.Beautiful island, but Reykevik is rather like a mini-Manchester on a wet Sunday afternoon.

February-March - go to Egypt.

I like a bit of everything that doesn't involve lying on a beach, since my boredom threshold for that is about 5 minutes on a good day. ;)

I was already considering Iceland and I've not been to Egypt yet either... thanks for the suggestions! :)
