There's good news and there's bad news: apparently Rome will begin airing on BBC2 on November 2nd, but there is no hot man-on-man action (at least not in this season, anyway!). Oh well. ;)
Hmm... that looks like another one stuffed into the already crowded Wednesday line-up. I really don't understand schedulers.
I did read that apparently the Italians are getting a drastically toned-down version, but ours will be uncut. They were going on about the full-on sex and violence coming straight after the 9pm watershed and upsetting parents... which makes me wonder if they're hoping to attract ratings through people tuning in just so that they can be outraged.
In the 9pm slot it's initially up against Crimewatch, something unknown on ITV, Grand Designs on 4 and one of the regular movie slots on 5, so I think they're in a decent place for picking up good viewing figures on terrestrial.
Yes, I expect they're looking for outrage figures. Having seen the episode in question, I'd say that apart from one scene which made me wince (the specifics of which have not been mentioned in any of the press coverage I've seen, so I don't want to spoil anyone) it's no more violent than say Band of Brothers was and that was in the 9pm slot, iirc.
It's an excellent series, anyway, and I recommend it highly. I know it's been renewed for a second season and they're talking about the possibility of a third...
Plus Numb3rs on ITV3 (I realise it's just started on ITV1 too now), Andromeda on SciFi (which I tape for a friend), and I thought it was going to be SG:Atlantis too but I see that's actually at 8 (against Codename Eternity) - I knew there was a reason I was missing it.
I don't seem to watch much on terrestrial these days, so I guess I don't pay too much attention to the terrestrial-only options either. It just seems that everything I fancy watching ends up clashing on the same one or two days and nothing the rest of the week. Fortunately there are usually repeats, and maybe DVDs... Actually, the outrage might help - they'll probably repeat it again so that those who missed it the first time around will have another opportunity to get upset. ;)
