Generic Fandom Peeves - part the second

- why oh why oh why do some people seem to like any old crap that's slapped between two covers and sold as a zine? I suppose it could be worse, since nobody is yet singing the praises of the 'Rose Tint My World' series in the discussion I'm thinking of. But the night is still young, I guess.

- why is there an assumption that anyone who says 'oh no, I can't write' is just being self-abasing. There are some people who can't write fic (divided into subsets of those who can't & don't care and those who can't & wish they could). God knows there are also some people who do write fic who a large number of us wish wouldn't.

- no, actually, we're *not* all dying to read your MarySue self-insertion fics where you marry [insert character name of choice]. In fact, the fact you're bragging about writing fics where you marry [insert character name of choice in fandom #1] does not fill us with confidence that we want you anywhere near our fandom at all, thankee kindly, let alone writing fics about [insert character name of choice in fandom #2].


Help, my peeves are being taken over by a discussion on one list in particular (with a side order of a certain forum I help moderate)!

I wrote this story where all the members of SG-1 have a food fight over me and I sleep with all of them and end up marrying Daniel do you want to read it? ;)

I think the 'sleeping with all of SG-1' pushes this beyond the MarySue self-insertion (if you'll pardon the pun).

Having a fight with all of them but then sleeping with Jonas, that's another matter...
