Current general fandom peeves
May. 10th, 2003 01:32 amIt bugs me when:
- people post separate chapters of their ongoing WiP to automated archives, rather than waiting till it's completed and posting the whole thing.
- I see someone acting like an utter a**hole and she makes me feel embarrassed that she's supposedly in agreement with what I'm saying (whereas what she's really doing is dragging out her much-used soapbox).
- I'm writing something for an e-zine and I can't help worrying a little about what the reaction to it is going to be, since it's somewhat darker and more edgy than much of the stuff in that fandom. (*waves to Lumina*)
- one of the fandoms I used to rely on for fic seems to have dried up, since many writers have moved on to pastures new and the vacuum they left behind has been filled by people who seem not to have ever seen the show in question. Or learned the basics of grammar and characterisation.
I'm sure there are more... ;)

Date: 2003-05-10 01:15 am (UTC)Give it to me, baby. The fandom can definitely use more not-fluffy. :g:
Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it. Yes, Ezslash does have a preponderance of fluff in comparison to other styles/content, but I don't necessarily believe that's because the readership, taken as a whole, prefers it that way. Just a reflection of the majority of the kinds of writers we've thus far attracted. And if all they write is fluff, and that's all anyone sees... Well, it can be a Catch-22. So we need to get more weighty stuff out there, to get more weighty stuff.
Hey, I can give you a list of names, mine included, of folks virtually starving for non-fluffy Ezslash. Please, give it to us. :g:
