Okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration... ;)

For the past week or so, I've been finding wasps in my house, usually dead or in the process of dying. Not that I'm sad about this because, in my opinion, wasps got no reason to live. Anyway, the odd thing is that the majority of the bodies have appeared on or around the windowsill of the one window in the house that doesn't open, with no sign of where they've come from.

Curiouser and curiouser...

I have a phobia about wasps. And I too have never worked out what wasps are for. What would happen if they all suddenly disappeared? Nothing, apart from making the world a happier place.

I'm not phobic, I just hate the stripy little bleeders with a passion. Unlike bees, who die if they sting someone, wasps can sting with impunity and apparently do, just for the pleasure of getting their own back on human beings.

And that's not even starting to get into the whole thing about people (like my mother) who are allergic. Like I said, wasps got no reason to live.

Ticks are worse. They suck blood and hang on forever--or until you notice the weird moving bump somewhere on your body--and transmit nasty diseases at the same time. Blech. No reason to live at all.

I have the same problem with bees. Completely sealed windows...and yet, they still manage to get in. I think they can squeeze in through very tiny cracks, but then are too stupid to squeeze back out.

Maybe you're haunted - that's usually a sign...

Yeppers. Usually its swarms or things like that, but dead ones showing up with no conceivable way of being there is another one.

Check the outside wall near the windowsill they may have found a way in. Wasps can and do find little holes and build their nest inside walls. We had one in between the wall of our townhouses...

Oh, I do so agree with you! They sting indiscriminately. You don't hear a low buzzing sound anywhere, do you? Coming from inside an air brick, say? I ask because we had this once and had a nest inside an air brick.
