Jun. 27th, 2005 06:02 pmYou know, I really don't remember filling in as many forms and/or providing anything like as much documentary evidence of who I am and whether I have the right to take up a job in this country when I got my previous post almost 7 years ago.
I guess that's bureaucracy for you - paperwork expands to fill any available space...

Date: 2005-06-27 05:11 pm (UTC)If the paperwork continues to grow at this weight, if I go for another job in 6 or 7 years time I'm going to need a wheelbarrow for all the forms... ;)

Date: 2005-06-28 02:14 am (UTC)We have an absolute ditz who "runs" (and that's giving her way too much credit) our office. I have hired kids who brought in their passport to prove who they are, and she STILL makes them bring in their high school photo ID, their social security card, and their birth certificate. If they're over 16, she asks if they'll bring their driver's license too.
I've tried and tried to explain it to her, I've pointed out where it says in writing that they only need that one form of ID, but here is no arguing with her. She's right, and that's it.
She copies the documents and puts them in their personnel files. Personally, I think that's bordering illegal, but obviously, I don't get a say.
