Two weeks to go in my current job and the nerves are setting in - not about getting everything done and dusted before I go, for that is something that must be done (as far as humanly possible) no matter what.
No, in this case the nerves are about my leaving do. I've insisted we at least start out at a good Mexican restaurant of my acquaintance but people at work have now started making comments that make me a little nervous. "How are you getting there?" they ask. "We'll make sure you get home," they say.
Unfortunately, I think there are plans afoot to get me absolutely bladdered, because somehow I've never made an utter twat of myself in public with these people in almost seven years, mostly by knowing when to stop. And if it's my leaving do, I know people are going to be plying me with alcohol all night.
Which would be fine except that I've just had a glass of wine with my dinner and I can feel it already. ;) Oh buggery bollocks.

Date: 2005-06-26 08:50 pm (UTC)I would also suggest that you book your own cab to call for you at a set time. Have to get home to check the ferrets haven't destroyed the world ... expecting a call from a friend in US at set time ... bet you can think of another excuse to leave at a reasonable hour.
Of course you can always be absolutely straight and say you've had enough and want coffee. Now. Test how scared your colleagues are of you even if you are leaving..

Date: 2005-06-26 09:20 pm (UTC)Oh, I already know. They're keen to get me drunk because I told them how my internal censor goes offline if I've had enough booze and they were under the impression I already say what I think (which I don't, or not more than about 60% of the time, depending on who I'm with...). ;)
