I thought it was common practice for US zine editors to insist on US spelling in zines for US fandoms?
It disturbs me a little to discover that the edits I've recently received for an impending zine in such a fandom make comments about other things but the many z-less words haven't been picked up at all...
Maybe I've just been spoiled by the good editors I've worked with?
E.T.A. - it's a moot point anyway, since I've decided to pull the story. If it hadn't been sitting around for the best part of 2 years I might feel differently, but there you go...

Date: 2005-05-01 05:28 pm (UTC)*shrug* But anyway - my reasoning is that I may as well go ahead and submit them because they've been sitting around for two years. I don't feel in love with them enough anymore to bother to post them online, but if it means sneaking some rare pairings into publication... :-P

Date: 2005-05-01 05:53 pm (UTC)As for the Snape/Filch, I've been buried under a million things lately, but I am working on dusting off the next three chapters - hope to get them to the betas sometime next week :-)

Date: 2005-05-02 12:46 am (UTC)Sounds like that might be the case. I would certainly want someone to go over my writing with a fine-toothed comb looking for those Americanizations if I were writing in Pros, for instance. And it's the idiosyncratic subtleties that go beyond the "-z-" and "-our" spellings that would most concern me, really; it's easy enough to catch the occasional "gotten/got" or "while/whilst" slip-up, but the turns of phrase are so very different that I'd really need help with those. So if they're not giving you the help to which you've become accustomed, it seems to me that you were right to pull it.
So does that mean you'll be putting it up online? ::hint, hint::
(And yes, I do recognize my unbelievable cheek in pushing for more fic when I haven't written in what seems like a decade. Do as I say, not as I do. *g*)
