The joys of discussion

You know, I always love it when people take a determined (or should that be dogmatic?) line on something and then proceed to loftily dismiss any differing opinion by saying things like "Well, you only believe what character X did was right because it was character X doing it", or that anyone who disagrees with them must therefore have dodgy ethics.

Oh, and anyone who disagrees with them is also siding with the terrorists, don't forget that! :P

Heee. It's quite amusing seeing the "if you think differently from me then you're just a wee bit stupid". I was waiting for comments about being a bleeding-heart liberal pansy, but I think siding with terrorists is better - it has more impact.

Well, this is in response to a 'tell me or die' scenario which this person has latched onto so that agreeing that character X telling the people what they want to know was the lesser of two evils is agreeing that knuckling under to terrorist demands is okay. Or something. I got kind of lost. ;)

I've always liked pansies - they come in such beautiful colours, multiple varieties, and can make any garden lighten up.

I wonder what the reaction would have been to this if nobody had seen Endgame yet. A completely different discussion, perhaps?

Again, sounds like a possibly American attitude to me. AFAIK, our government has a "no cooperation, period" policy regardless how small the demand vs. how large the damage at stake. Not that no other gov'ts feel this way; I just know more about my own. ;-)

Heck, these days I think we all know more about the US government than our own. Which is rather depressing, really.
