So, I'm sitting here at the computer idly chatting with someone and out of the corner of my eye I can see a flashlight beam moving across my back garden. First thought is that it's next door out looking for one of their multitude of cats, all of which like to treat my garden as an extension of their own. However, as the light gets closer, I see that I'm about to get a visit from the police.

My first thought was that someone had broken into my car, since it's parked at the bottom of the garden, but when the first words out of his mouth are "Is this 511?" my despairing thoughts concerning my no claims bonus are proven unsubstantiated. Nope, that's 5 houses along, mate, and no, I didn't call you.

My second thoughts were about how I got the dog I'm currently looking after, but that's another story altogether and not one where I'd wish to implicate myself in print, thanks very much.

Anyway, apparently one of the houses in our row got burgled the other night and there's been reports of a prowler. Deep joy. And before anyone asks, I really wouldn't want to be relying on the dog (or the kids, come to that)... ;)
