Day 5 - A show you hate
Wow, 'hate' is such a strong word, reserved only for reality shows and the like (seriously, who watches that stuff?) rather than the more fannish end of the spectrum. Not that there aren't plenty of shows I dislike, wondering just how the hell they got renewed, in some cases repeatedly, unless there were sexual favours involved between the creatives and the network executives and in some cases why people who otherwise exhibit excellent taste (i.e. in liking stuff I also like) have got sucked into them.
So I suppose the answer to this question is more, for me, about shows I don't 'get'. In a lot of cases I will have watched the pilot episode and while I know that's not always a good benchmark for how things will develop, I usually find if I can't make it through that episode the I'm not going to become engaged with the show. Sometimes I can make it through the pilot and lose interest partway through the first season (Supernatural, I am looking at you) but if I find I don't give a crap about the characters and what happens to them then why would I want to carry on watching? After all, there are plenty of other shows out there to choose from...
E.T.A. And then there's Firefly, where the fans of the show actually managed to make me never want to watch it by telling me how much I'd love it. *applauds* As opposed to Dollhouse where the actual premise left me cold/nauseated.
