I was sold until you mentioned the tarantulas - ok, I'm still sold despite the tarantulas.
It should be said we had to specifically go looking for the tarantula on a night-time walk, where our guide was all 'oh, a tarantula lives in this hole, let me see if I can get it to come out...', whereas the snakes were just hanging around (literally) while we were out and about.
