30 Days - day 7
Jul. 7th, 2011 03:47 pm7 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
If you're talking about fic I've written, I don't think so. Not that I recall.
I have had the experience of how good writers can convince me of almost anything, including making a two-dimensional character three-dimensional because of how they write them - it's not something that personally appeals when it comes to writing but I could see how the challenge could be interesting. Whether even that is enough to change my opinion of a character (good for bad, bad for good) I'm not really certain...

Date: 2011-07-08 01:48 am (UTC)Do you mean that as a writer you aren't interested in taking thinly fleshed characters and fleshing them out, or are you specifically referring to, for instance, taking guest characters or minor characters and fleshing them out in a fanfic? I ask because to me a lot of the fun is fleshing out characters (even main characters, who often have a lot of room for interpretation). I mean, I don't pick up, you know, the guy who had a 1-minute spot in one MFU episode, and flesh him out - but I've done it in other fandoms, but not MFU, because that brief glimpse intrigued me.
Also, I hope these questions aren't irritating you. :-) I find the process fascinating.
