There's something inherently entertaining about a conversation with the police that starts off with them all self-righteous and 'well, we couldn't get hold of anyone!' and finishes with them all sheepish once I've explained how they can't actually legally do what they were planning to do and how much even trying to do it without proper consultation has dropped them in it.
Similar conversation with a lawyer earlier in the day as well, again about how the law/regulations do not allow us to do what she thinks, particularly as someone else had that self-same conversation with her last week and she seems to have forgotten all about it since. *headdesk*

Date: 2008-12-03 07:49 am (UTC)I've also discovered the nasty tendency of a couple of staff here to spring stuff on me with no warning. My personal favourite, emailing me after I've left work and expect me to psychically know about a meeting first thing the following day without actually checking that I'm going to be around to read the email, let alone do the meeting. Grrrr.
