Date: 2007-08-05 12:17 pm (UTC)No it isn't just you. Various friends of mine are pregnant and they are having a joyous time wearing the lastest fashions. Lucky old them. Personally I don't wish to look like multi-coloured pregnant person, and would like just a little bit of choice in the shops.

Date: 2007-08-05 03:29 pm (UTC)current fashion for tops look like over-bright maternity wear

Date: 2007-08-05 10:23 pm (UTC)I've worked with Menalto's Gallery for quite a few years, and I can honestly say that I've never had a problem with it. Of all the others out there, it's the one I would most definitely recommend.

Date: 2007-08-06 03:34 am (UTC)Yes! I see all these really thin young girls wearing shirts that give them the appearance of being pregnant. It's very strange, but I do remember smock tops being popular back in late 60s or thereabouts, too. I remember wearing them to school, though these were more like "cafeteria worker" smocks, but that was about what maternity clothing looked like back then, too. I have no idea why people would think it was a good idea to dress kids ages 8 - 12 or so in maternity wear, but apparently I was happy enough to wear it. *g*

Date: 2007-08-06 07:36 am (UTC)You know Mandy Patinkin has thrown a hissy fit and walked out on the show, though? It's going to be interesting to see if they manage to successfully replace him...

Date: 2007-08-06 11:38 pm (UTC)I'm only halfway through S1, plus having seen Big Game and Revelations, and all I can say is that I really hope they promote from within and then bring in any new character in a lower position, like Elle and Emily both had when they started. I'd really like to see Hotch in charge, and I think he deserves it (based on what I've seen so far)... but though I really like Morgan, he just doesn't seem like Supervisor material yet.
I don't know. I'm sure I'll have a more informed opinion by September, though.

Date: 2007-08-08 05:22 am (UTC)What's happened and what are LJ doing? Is there anywhere this is summarised?
And yes, agree... bullet points are your friends... and yes, the current fashions are crap. *g* I'm currently on a weight-loss binge... I'll be seriously pissed if I finally get the pounds off only to find the clothes are going to make me look big anyway! *g*
Cheers!

Date: 2007-08-08 06:50 pm (UTC)Then, at the end of last week, two HP fan artists got banned on a permanent basis from lj for posting pics that initially were claimed to involving underage characters, with no opportunity to appeal. This included the deletion of one artists other journals, including one where they posted recipes. The pics in question were originally posted to
When the fact that the pics weren't clearly underage was vigorously pointed out, the response from lj abuse was to admit that maybe the Snape/Harry pic wasn't underage, but it didn't have enough artistic merit to balance out the sexual content. Because clearly a bunch of lj-abuse folks are well placed to judge obscenity v. artistic merit when the US Supreme Court would say it struggles to do so...
Cue outrage over lack of communication, actions that appear a complete turnaround from what was being said only weeks ago, questions over whether those previous statements were a cynical attempt to reassure people into buying permanent accounts, over whether lj is being homophobic since there has been no similar action towards m/f art or fic, outrage that lj is essentially calling all artwork involving characters who might be under 18 child porn and the people who draw/view it paedophiles, and a general lack of confidence that lj won't start behaving in an equally arbitrary fashion towards the rest of us.
How's that for a summary? ;)

Date: 2007-08-08 09:22 pm (UTC)I've heard various rumours about what they intend to do with the show, but I don't know which direction they go in... as long as they avoid inhouse romance, I'll be happy. It'll also be a bloody miracle, knowing US shows, but I live in hope!

Date: 2007-08-09 07:42 am (UTC)This has the makings of a good movie, actually. Pity there's no Erin Brockovich for bloggers. *g*
Beyond anything else, I love the inequality of the application of the rules - if it's homosexual in nature it must, of course, be far more evil. Just when you think that, in some quarters, progress is being made for greater acceptance... yadda yadda
I'm guessing LJ haven't heard the expression of not biting the hand that feeds them.... and they've likely missed the fact that if they bite one hand, many hands in fandom will slap back. :-)
