2.) People who post 4kb long 'parts' (that aren't even self-contained chapters but just arbitrarily stop...) to archives.
3.) Characters who burst into tears and long diatribes of self-loathing at the drop of a hat.
4.) People who rant on about how character X is straight, damn it! He's a *fictional character*, dearie, live with it.
5.) People who use 'well, it's an AU!' as an excuse for not doing any research at all (and possibly getting the characters' names wrong as well!).
6.) When I just can't quite get that sentence to say what I want it to...
7.) People who butcher a good idea by poor or half-hearted execution of it.

1. Stories where the writer has obviously done their research but they don't beat you with it.

4. Hot sex scenes that don't read like a re-write of the last 20 sex scenes I read.

1.) 'Private Emotion' by Enrique Iglesias - a friend of mine made a fantastic Jack/Daniel vid to this song and now I can't even hear it on the radio without the hair on the back of my neck standing on end.
2.) Anything by Sarah McLachlan - though I'm a slasher, my membership pack complete with obligatory album by her seems to have got lost in the post...
