Moving on (again)

Tonight's my last shift at the library - yep, I put my notice in last week as the ongoing turmoil caused by the inflexible shift pattern was getting too much for my knackered body to cope with. Still, at least I am leaving on my own terms and with the promise of a positive reference from my supervisor, who clearly only suspects but cannot prove that I think him a complete muppet who couldn't organise his way out of a wet paperbag.

I think it was getting sick that made me really think about leaving, though I was originally planning to quit at the end of term. Then when I completed my course and was finally able to start applying for tutor jobs it seemed like something that was far more trouble than it was worth. At least my squirrelling away of cash while I was working (one of the benefits of having no dependants) means I don't actually have to work, at least for a while.

Not that I have told my mother I've quit. Some things are best left unsaid till I have the next stage properly sorted! ;)

So I'm volunteering in an ESOL class, which is making me think about possibly doing a qualification in that - now I have more free time I need to get some similar experience in other options and see if I still feel the same way. There's a couple of places locally that do one of the recognised ESOL qualifications so I can do it either over a year part-time starting in September or intensively over a month with various start dates this year. Either way the cost is the same, so I just need to decide how crazy I feel and whether I think I can cope with being 'at school' 9-5 for a month.

Anyway, that's the state of the Grac at present and I promise to start posting about stuff that isn't work very soon. Honest.

E.T.A I should probably mention that I already have two job interviews lined up over the next couple of weeks, in case anyone is thinking I'm planning to sit around watching bad daytime TV and eating bonbons.
