Day 10 and the return of muffins

Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
If I don't think I'm going to like a show then why would I be watching it in the first place? After all, it isn't as if there's a worldwide shortage of shows, movies or books so that I'm forced to try out stuff that doesn't initially work for me... Having said that, I'll make an exception for at least one show - in this case, the first show that came to mind for this was Hannibal.
Let me say from the outset that I don't like horror movies. I find most of them too gory, preferring shock over plot or character development, and prefer more psychological dramas than out and out blood and guts. I have never seen Silence of the Lambs or Red Dragon or Manhunter and in general terms, serial killer stuff doesn't really push my buttons. So it would seem that Hannibal is an unlikely show for me to even start watching, let alone be looking forward to season 2 with significant anticipation...
That's not to say the show itself isn't problematic at times or that there haven't been things that have made me wince/close my eyes/hit fast forward. But those things have been outnumbered by the quality of the cinematography and the performances by many of the leading actors. I'm particularly smitten with the characterisation of Beverley Katz, as a woman who has seen all sorts of horrible things but still has the stomach to do what's needed, while it's also nice to see Caroline Dhavernas given a role she can really get to grips with.
In other news, after my previous issues with English muffins which were a messy pain in my arse to make, I have stumbled across a much better/easier recipe here which uses natural yoghurt rather than milk. Much easier to work with - no having to add loads of extra flour to be able to work the dough - and they came out of the griddle looking like they'd come from a packet.
