30 Days - day 18
Jul. 18th, 2011 09:16 pm18 - Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?
I get ideas from all sorts of places. One major source is thinking about what would happen if X instead of Y, if X was what happened in an episode (for example, what if Ezra was the one that saved Nathan, not Chris?; what if the Stargate was opened in WWII not by Ernest Littlefield but by an Army Airforce pilot called Jack and an archaeologist called Daniel?; what if when James West was pretending to be a bank robber he lost his memory and thought that was who he really was?). Plenty to be going on with there...
In other cases it'll usually be a scene that sticks in my head, then I have to work out how everyone got there and what happens next. I don't always write in a linear fashion (start to finish) so sometimes I can come up with something that interests or intrigues me and have to work around it.
I've also started getting more into responding to prompts, but that's mostly because I am terribly lazy and need pushing. Outside of an editor, challenges are the best I'm going to get.
