graculus: (Snape)
Okay, so it's technically day 5, but who's arguing?

4 – Do you have a "muse" character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn't about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?

I've read this a couple of times and have absolutely no idea what the question is going on about. These are fictional characters, folks, either of someone else's imagining or my own and therefore anything they're getting up to is coming out of my subconscious if I'm not immediately aware of it.

Otherwise that way lies marriage on the astral plain and so on (see icon for what Snape thinks of that!). ;)

5 –If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?

The most obvious case of this was when I was writing Obligations which essentially started life as an idea of rewriting the Mag7 pilot and having Ezra save Nathan's life at the beginning. Completely different dynamic within the group, yadda yadda.

I had thought it would be a good set-up for a lengthy E/N story where both of them have to come to terms with the fact that Nathan literally owes Ezra his life and meanwhile Ezra is managing to get himself well and truly embroiled in life in Four Corners. While it's true Ezra and Nathan do deal with that particular complication between them, suddenly I found myself with a certain gunslinger intent on muscling in on the new sheriff in town. What's a girl to do when her subconscious decides this would work better as E/C instead? ;)
