Erk, or something...
Oct. 19th, 2010 10:16 amSo, I thought it would be a good idea to go from
connotations (which was awesome, as usual!) and then jump on a plane the following day and go somewhere warmer for a week. Next time I get this kind of idea, remind me that there are also downsides to this...
1. I have a cold. It kind of started as con throat but developed into coughing-my-lungs-out and now means I will be going back to work unwell tomorrow. Meh. If it had been warmer where I was, then perhaps it would have helped, but the alternating sunshine and torrential rain didn't really work so well for my immune system.
2. At one point, I also fell off the trail I was hiking. Torrential rain + rocks = slipperiness and potential for doom, though I was lucky enough to slip off at the right point and just end up with bruises and scratches from falling through bushes rather than toppling off a cliff or some such.
3. Lack of internet is apparently not as serious a condition as I had thought it was. Hmmm. Also I got stuff written, including the first 1500 words of my pirate AU for
au_bingo and watched a bunch of the stuff I got hold of at
connotations (though not The Losers so
katemonkey leave me alone...). And slept a lot, in the converted farmhouse B&B place where I was the only guest all week.
4. A two and a half hour flightcan seem like is an eternity when one of the passengers is a small child who screams continuously.
Now there must be shopping and washing and tidying of the house before the inevitable return to mundanity tomorrow when I discover just how much chaos has been wrought in my absence. Happy times! :P
