graculus: (sarcasm)
I sense that the next few weeks of posts are pretty much all going to be related to my impending change of jobs, so apologies in advance to anyone who's bored by this and feel free to skip away till some time in late November...

One of the things about working for local government is that you don't get to leave in a huff (or even in a minute and a huff, if you're a Marx brother!) you have to work interminable periods of notice. In my case, 3 months, which actually works out to be more than 12 weeks due to the vagaries of the calendar. As a result, I seem to have gone full circle in this job and am now counting the days till it's all over.

Witness the progress of my consultancy - first few months in particular, it felt as thought I was often having conversations about how I ought to be involved in particular discussions (including having to throw a temper tantrum about not getting automatically included in government-funded training regarding new legislation), then I went through a phase of having to explain why I shouldn't be involved in discussions because it wasn't relevant to my role or area of expertise. Now I seem to be out the other side again, residing in the land of 'I didn't include you in this, because I know you're not going to be here...'.

Not that I'm twiddling my thumbs, as I seem to be booking stuff in my diary right up till Day Zero (and that's another thing - I knew I was leaving when everyone else got their 2010 diaries and I didn't!), which is fine by me. I'd rather be busy and wishing I'd moved than idle and doing the same.
