graculus: (coffee)
Back to work yesterday, taking antibiotics with me, and I can't pretend that my desire to go back wasn't at least partly motivated by a need for a speedy printer to churn out pages 94 to 145 of my SG-1 novel (double column and double sided, to save paper) so I can edit it. For shorter stuff, I would usually edit onscreen, but there's nothing quite like scribbling all over paper to make you feel like you've actually done something, is there?

I just have a couple of scenes left to write and edits to do and then it's done, first draft at least. Considering this is the same storyline that had me wondering back in November if it was even long enough to be a novel, I'm pleased to see that it's rapidly approaching 80,000 words with some still left to do. At first, it felt as though there was a degree of adverb abuse that would make JKR envious, not to mention enough running down corridors to suit any Mallozzi script, but I hope that's not too obvious in the 'final' version? Pad like the wind, baby! Anyway, what with that and my UNCLE edits, I guess you can probably figure out what I'll be doing this weekend? ;)

At least the niggling pain from my dental abcess meant that I could catch up on some tv, since my head wasn't in the right space to try and write (or at least not write anything I wasn't sure would suck abysmally) and could watch a couple of minutes of a show and then wander off for a bit (either literally or metaphorically). I'm now up to speed on Boston Legal (You can tell me anything, I'm your flamingo! *loves*), Numb3rs (it saddens me there is no ongoing conflict between the Eppes boys, since anything there ever is gets resolved in the same episode and where's the angst in that?) and Regenesis (there is still oodles of Bob love).
