Dougal redux
Dec. 15th, 2006 07:08 pmJolanda (the vet) left a message for me this afternoon, but they'd closed by the time I got it. Apparently the results of the smears they did were 'inconclusive' so they want me to phone on Monday to discuss what we might want to do next - they're talking about doing a scan, but she didn't sound too confident this would actually tell us any more than we already know, which is pretty much nothing.
The lump seems to have pretty much gone now the fluid has been extracted from it, so I'm ambivalent about further exploration in search of a resolution that might not be possible. If we do a scan and that's inconclusive too, what's next? I'm certainly not going to agree to exploratory surgery, not when Dougal is the same age as Lily and there's no clear diagnosis like there was with her.
In some ways, I guess I'm reluctant to start digging because there might be something nasty lurking, waiting to be discovered. Still, I'll have a chat with Jolanda on Monday and see what she has to say...
