(no subject)

Further on the arrant stupidity here and how I might be getting a better deal out of it after all.

So, the appropriate admin flunky finally got back and (apart from reading my 'please call me on Friday, but don't bother till after 12 since I won't be at the office till then' as 'please call me a.s.a.p' and phoning at 9am) it seems that not only is there definitely no computer for me, there might not even be a desk any more! I wish I could say I was surprised, but I have worked for local government long enough to be surprised very rarely...

Plan B, it seems, is for me to move into another building that most of the people have moved out of - on the plus side, it means I will have an office to myself with all the slacking off possibilities that entails, but on the minus side, it's hardly a central location.

Still, the slacking off is very enticing, particularly since I'm employed effectively in a consultancy role and my attitude is that if everyone who knows I'm out here chooses not to use my experience and expertise to try and make their lives easier, that's their problem and not mine.
