graculus: (weasel)
Well, today is the big day for Lily, so positive thoughts and all that very much appreciated. I'll let you all know later on how she's got on...

Thanks to everyone for the good thoughts! :) She's home and with a big row of stitches down her stomach and currently chowing down on cat food mixed with olive oil since the dry food seems too much like hard work.

The vet pronounced himself happy with the operation and showed me what he'd removed - apparently the normal adrenal gland is a couple of millimetres across and (if you put the bits back together, since it came out in bits) hers was the size of a kidney bean. So no doubt whatsoever about the initial diagnosis. And of course, just to be awkward, it had to be her right adrenal gland. That's the trickier of the two to remove since it's right next to the vena cava and if you cut that it's Game Over.

Now I need to do a slight alteration to my gameplan for the weekend as I want to take her to my vets on Friday to have her incision checked, so I need to see if I can get an early appointment Friday morning and then drop her off with the person who's looking after them for me. Fortunately neither of my panels are booked for Friday and if I can get everything organised I should only be a couple of hours later than I'd planned... *fingers crossed*
