Not so good...
Aug. 31st, 2006 08:34 pmWell, it looks like Lily is ailing again. After this year's earlier trauma, which required a trip to the emergency vets and more forcefeeding than I care to think about, I've been watching her for the past couple of weeks because she developed some bald patches on her side. And now she also has them on the other side as well, which is a pretty clear sign that she has adrenal disorder. Other symptoms are lethargy and weight gain, but she's been hard to rouse for the past couple of years and the little pot belly doesn't seem to be growing at all...
She's fine, anyway, still eating and she seems lively enough in the short space of time she is awake every day. But I need to go and have a chat with the vet and also get her heart checked out before I consider whether to put her through having an operation. From everything I know about the illness, it's pretty much impossible to diagnose except by biopsy, which isn't overly helpful. There are a couple of non-surgical options but none of them seem to be anything like as reliable as removing the adrenal gland but since she's got to be at least 8 now, she's hardly the best candidate for surgery.
