(no subject)

In some ways, I was wondering when the other shoe would drop, since it's been a little too good to be true... the manager who was on leave when I started in my new role got back today.

I have to say I wasn't overly impressed by the fact that she didn't bother to even phone me to check things were okay and then when I did need to speak with her she didn't bother to reply to a message I left and then got very snippy and dismissive with me when I asked that the meeting she was in be interrupted. Guess what it was? A meeting for all the other managers she's responsible for. Because apparently it's okay for me to run one of her teams but heaven forbid I should get any respect for it.

So, a couple of things this afternoon reminded me of the realities of being a manager, just when I was forgetting all about it - good thing too, probably. I have a list of things to raise with her, when she deigns to spare me some of her precious time, but I certainly also have no compunction in discussing any of this with her manager (who was the person who got me to do this in the first place).

Grrr and indeed aaaarrrgggghhh.
