(no subject)

I'm up to 6,500 words so far in my tealc_ficathon story and it seems to be going quite well, though I'm not completely sure it fits the request exactly - also, in a move which is somewhat unusual for me, I seem to have been stockpiling sex scenes from other stories to use in this one. So far, I'm just writing the second one and there's another one on the way, all completely relevant to advancing the plot.

I've been thinking about what I said here in the fanfic memes thing as well and wondering just what it is that makes me like certain things. I'd say that some of it must come from my own worldview, which is (I would say) quite realistic but hopeful - I want things to work out perfectly but know that they don't, so stories where character A thinks character B has betrayed him in some way, only to discover the truth later on and everything is reconciled must play to that take on things though I'm not so sure how forgiving some of my favourite characters would be of that scenario in real life...

Now sex to advance characterisation or plot works perfectly for me and a good writer can convince me of most things - this combination is my great failing and leads me into reading stuff I wouldn't expect to do, some of it courtesy of the talented folks on my friends list. But when it comes to writing sex scenes, I get bored really easily and worry that things are sinking into purple prose. My characters are rarely verbose when having sex, since the ability to be as talkative as they are in some stories must indicate they aren't doing it right! In fact, my characters should be damn grateful to get any action at all! :P
