There are two multi-screen cinemas in the place I live. Neither of them are showing Howl's Moving Castle, though one of them did screen Kung Fu Hustle, with subtitles not dubbed, so I'm a little perplexed at the decision-making here. The multi-screen cinema in the place where I work isn't showing Howl's Moving Castle either.

Looks like a detour to the cinema in Leicester on my way home tomorrow is in order...

Spent the afternoon shampooing the ferrets with anti-tick shampoo and cleaning out their hutch instead. Deep joy. ;)

Belated [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 post, due to escaping wildlife... ;)

Name 5 shows you're watching in the new television season.

1. Rome - this kicks arse, thanks very much. I'm sure it'll do very well when it finally hits BBC2 in October.

2. Numb3rs - despite my dislike for the character played by Diane Farr (you know, I'd forgotten just how much her nasal voice irritates me and what FBI agent runs around looking like an ad for L'Oreal hair care?) and bimbo!prosecutor BOTW, designed to remind us just what a hot stud-monkey Don is so people don't think his geeky little brother has a hotter girlfriend than he does (which Charlie still does, no matter how hard they try), I was amused by the fact that Larry is apparently part of the fixtures at the Eppes family dinner now. ;)

3. Boston Legal - can't wait for what's left of season 1, finally, even if they have removed my favourite supporting character from season 2. James Spader. Mmmmm.

4. House - just for the House/Wilson love and to see him slap down the ducklings. Every. Single. Week. :)

5. None of the other new shows, because they all look particularly unimaginative, especially the Lost clones - I'll stick with the original.

I would include Stargate SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica but now they've gone on this dumb mid-season break, I suppose they don't count...

And over in the UK, we're currently getting the most recent season of Dead Zone (season 4, I think), season 1 of Grey's Anatomy (which I was surprised to discover I liked, even though I spent the best part of most episodes wanting to slap Meredith upside the head - it's like Buffy all over again, with the hating the title character and loving the supporting cast). Oh, and season 2 of The 4400 starts in the UK this week and so does The Closer and in October we're also getting Veronica Mars (hate or love? only time will tell).
