graculus: (Jack)
Well, I'd planned to mow the lawn today but for once the weather forecast was accurate and it was raining when I woke up and is still raining. *sigh* I think we had summer. Oh, and I still have wasps. Grrrr. I still can't figure out where they're coming from. Maybe [livejournal.com profile] chance1562 is right and the house is haunted! :P

In other news, I'm now two weeks into my new job and really enjoying it. I spent a couple of days at one of the outlying offices and the reception I received was everything I could have asked for. If I'd had any doubts that this was the right move, they're gone now, though I've yet to be sure I'm actually going to get paid this month (have I really filled in all 97 documents required?) until it turns up. ;)

I could do without the 90 mile round trip to work and back every day. That's really kicking my arse at the moment, I have to say, and I have no idea how people cope with that kind of thing for years. Still, if houses aren't selling, then there's not much I can do about it - there are 7 houses on sale in the immediate area and only one has sold.

Oh, and I succumbed and bought myself a mobile phone. Although I am gadget girl usually, I was able to resist all of that and was primarily attracted by the fact that it's red. And that I wouldn't need an electron microscope and a pointer to dial the right number. Previously I'd had one from work and therefore had avoided buying one, but with the afore-mentioned commute I felt it would be a good move (particularly since my route is partly through windy country roads without conveniently-located phoneboxes). I'm now trying to decide whether I really want the UNCLE theme on there as my ringtone or not. ;)

Speaking of UNCLE, I've been watching a couple of the movies (*pauses to genuflect in the direction of Warner Bros. in hopes that the rumoured series dvd release goes as planned*) and was greatly amused by the reiteration in The Spy With My Face of how Illya is Napoleon's 'very close friend'. And some nice shots of the Kuryakin upper arms in the scene with the killer toy robots. Mmmmm. :)

And a weekend post would not be complete without an honourable mention for Stargate SG-1 - part 2 kicked arse, long may this new trend continue.
