Got an email from Amazon earlier in the week to say my mp3 player wouldn't be arriving till mid-January at the earliest (cue sounds of frustration, to say the least) - this morning I got another email from them to say that it's been dispatched. But the tracking number must be wrong as it seems to apply to something that was shipped about 3 weeks ago so who knows where my beloved purple thing is?

Oh, and meanwhile I also hail the cleverness of this gadget which I'm going to be getting at some point and was particularly amused at the 'no, I promise I'm not going to use it to set up my own pirate radio station, honest guv!' disclaimer necessary to purchase one.

Trying for a little originality here, I've decided to do different fandoms for each...

1. A character you really, really love: I had a moment's indecision between Illya Kuryakin and Daniel Jackson, but in the end Illya won out on the basis of the length of time that I've been smitten with him. As far as I can recall IK was my first crush, aged about 8 years old, and I've never got over him - he's the man who has everything to my mind, intelligent and extremely decorative without being either overly aware of it or allowing either factor to influence how he interacts with the world. I've always been a sucker for characters who don't wear their heart on their sleeve and IK is the crown prince of covert. ;)

2. A character you like: Ray Kowalski. There, I've said it, I like the replacement better than the original. Again, fairly complex character with emotional hang-ups, looks damn good in red serge.

3. A character you could take or leave: Jim Ellison. I find myself liking fic!Jim a heck of a lot better than show!Jim, mainly because I don't actually find Richard Burgi all that attractive and it puts me off. Also the poor quality of the show's writing, but that almost goes without saying. I was sorely disappointed, having read some very good fic, to see what Jim and Blair really looked like...

4. A character you really don't care for: the Malfoys, pere et fils. There's just nothing intriguing or attractive about them and I really don't get why anyone would be at all interested in them, let alone fantasise about them having sex with anyone.

5. A character you'd like to spork: Buffy Summers. It's funny, both of Joss Whedon's shows where I've liked the supporting cast very much and found the premise of the show itself entertaining, I've wanted to slap the eponymous lead characters silly. Buffy is a whiny brat who needs to get over herself. It should have been Faith the Vampire Slayer, since Faith is a much more interesting and much less self-obsessed character than blondie.
