Movie ramblings
Sep. 7th, 2004 07:41 pmJust got back from seeing Hellboy which I enjoyed very much, all things considered. The only problem with using that much CGI in fight scenes is that after about 30 seconds it starts to *look* like CGI - much like the Harry-on-his-hexed-broomstick scene in HP1, poor old Hellboy being tossed around looked fake.
Meanwhile, what's with people taking their kids to wildly-inappropriate movies? Hellboy has a 12A classification, which means no unaccompanied children under 12. Fair enough, but there was a guy there with three kids and the youngest of them can't have been much older than 4 or 5. And this for a movie that has surgically-mutilated Nazi super-assassins rising from the dead and elder gods bursting from people's chests etc. No, just no.
Interesting moment when watching the trailers: that cheesy-looking Sky Captain and the Unfeasibly Long Title of Doom movie is still using the them from Stargate SG-1 as music to the trailer. Bizarre. Jude Law looks as pretty as ever, while Angelina Jolie is just making a living out of playing Lara Croft look-alikes, it seems.
Speaking of Jude Law, I'm not sure whether to look forward to one of his future projects or not - the jury is still out. The project? A remake of Brideshead Revisited with him as Sebastian Flyte and Paul Bettany as Charles Ryder. On one hand, the pretty! On the other hand, remake! Well, I guess we'll see how homoerotic it is! ;)
