The joy of new fandoms...
May. 16th, 2004 10:21 amFor some unknown reason, recently I've been driven to read fic in two new fandoms: Without a Trace and CSI. And here, dear readers, are my initial thoughts on the two...
Without a Trace - so, nobody's writing fic in this fandom that isn't just a couple of pages of mostly smut?
I can see the eye candy aspect between Danny and Martin (and am seriously not arguing with it!) but we seem to be missing the lengthy angst-ridden first time stories where they're dealing with their sexuality issues and the consequences of being gay and working for the FBI while in the middle of a case or two. Or perhaps I'm just not finding those...
CSI - who are these people in the fic and why aren't they on the show instead of the ciphers who are?
Who decided Nick was going to be the whiny bottom boy and heavens, how did anyone come to the conclusion that Gil Grissom was hung like a donkey? And don't get me started on the Nick/Warrick/Gil threesomes fics. The mind boggles.
Oh, and Sara? I could see the harpy characterisation in the slash fic coming *way* down the track when the unsubtle hero worship started popping up on the show.
The common denominator for both shows seems to be zero chemistry between the m/f couples that they're obviously pushing. Malone/whatsername in WAT, I think it's kind of scuzzy pushing a relationship that makes your main character into an adulterer and Grissom is just so not doing it with *anyone*who's still alive.
