graculusDriving to work this morning, I'd diagnosed the boy-racer sound coming from the front of the car as a sure sign that the front end of my exhaust was on its way out. On the way home, I wondered whether it could last till the weekend, when it would be more convenient for me to get it replaced. Just north of the Leicester Forest East service station, I discovered it couldn't... ;)
Meanwhile, in other news: being a masochist, I was prevailed upon to take on some management responsibilities (you're here in the building anyway and you seem to know what you're talking about and we neeeeeeed you! *whimper*). On my terms, and for the period of this week and the next 3 weeks only, I've accepted. And in fact, so far it hasn't been too bad. One of the people I thought would balk at me telling her what to do has happily done as she's told, partly because I was rescuing her from a shitty situation where she could have been blamed for something that wasn't her fault, I'm sure.
Ask me again in a couple of weeks what I think, but it's an interesting experience and it can never hurt to have senior management think you're doing them a favour.
Actually, the main problem today (other than the sweltering weather, and all my US friendslist people can just button it, okay?) was that the kettle broke. :(
