A follow-up question from yesterday:

Imagine you're a male fictional character who has a somewhat chequered track record with the opposite sex. You get together with another female character from your universe, ignoring the fact that she's about 20 years younger than you and that you used to babysit her. You have twins and you name them after your definitely-dead ex-wife and your possibly-dead ex-lover.

Is it just me or is that (by which I mean the naming your children part, mostly...) a really creepy idea?

How adorable! What a lovely idea! Life must go on! And twins are always such a blessing to a family, especially when one's not in the prime of one's youth! Just charming; yes, charming. And so realistic too!

Stargate SG-1, so the names you need to insert are 'Daniel', 'Cassie', 'Sha're' and 'Vala'. Apparently 'Auntie Sam' was past her child-bearing days by this point in time, so she was spared all but looking after them. ;)

Quads? Now, that's just being silly. Perhaps two sets of twinnies, separated by a mere nine months, to demonstrate both their familial warmth and Papa's awesome virility?

They would of course, all be so alike in looks that everyone would *think* they were quads of course.

Possibly redheads.

Though I can't quite decide between a verdant emerald or a sumptuous amethyst for the eye colour. Hmm. Maybe one of each. Left eye green, right eye purple.

That's disturbing in and of itself, but I have to say that nothing quite says romantic adorableness like naming children (twins, yay!) after dead past wives/. Awwww.

I clearly didn't explain myself very well in the original question - it's the 'naming children after your dead/possibly dead exes' that creeped me out, not the other bit (well, not quite so much).

If they are quads, that would make a total of eight eyes, so each eye could be a different rainbow color - luminescent red, radiant orange, dazzling yellow, said verdant green, oceanic blue, bottomless indigo, your sumptuous amethyst, and the last one could be ultraviolent and shoot lasers or sumthin'.

Maybe they could *all* have a special nicitating membrane that allows them to all shoot lasers from their eyes. A nicitating membrane with really cool refractive properties.

I rather fancy the radiant orange and dazzling yellow eyes, actually. It sounds like it would really be something to see. I think we might want to fit a clear cerulean, or maybe a crystalline azure in there somewhere too. Perhaps they could all have a third eye? Just to cover the possibilities.

I've never understood this 'must pair everyone up' thing that some writers have going on - I mean, hasn't Daniel canonically and fictionally suffered enough (having also been doing the horizontal mambo with some chica from SG:A) that he doesn't also need to be paired off this way at the end of it?

Though of course his life would have been meaningless if he hadn't helped to produce children... ;)
