I'm giving serious consideration at the moment to renting somewhere much nearer where my new job is, since this 90-mile round trip to work five times a week is really kicking my arse already.

I've always kind of begrudged any encroachment by work on what I consider to be my time and that essentially starts when I walk out of the office at the end of the day. At the moment I'm spending about 10 more hours driving to and from work than I feel I ought to and I resent it immensely.

So, anyway, that means doing stuff to make that happen. Erk. Watch this space. :P

I drove 90 minutes each way for the first five business days following my promotion to headquarters, which was the period of time between my start date and my landlord's have-the-apartment-ready date. I begrudged every minute of it, and I had stacks of books on CD.

Getting all of that time back into your life from the commute will be worth the bother and inconvenience of relocation, I promise. It's better than losing weight.

Go for it! I live 5 minutes from my job now, and it's the best thing I could've done for myself until that $2 billion inheritance I just know some unknown benefactor's going to leave me shows up.

Hope it all goes well. I have a very bad timetable at work, but it's not that bad because it's just a 15 minutes walk from home.

Let the flat hunt begin!
