Yep, looking back I see that I have posted one of these each year about August-September, so let's make it three in a row!

1. Tripping Over You - Milo and Liam, navigating the waters of a first relationship (m/m).

2. Supercakes - Kat Leyh is now getting more of a break in mainstream comics as an artist for Lumberjanes and things like that but hopefully this on-off series about superpowered girlfriends will continue! (f/f)

3. Hotblood! - centaurs in the American west (m/m).

4. The Center for Otherworld Science - as the author herself describes it, it's about "three women, awkward romance, interpersonal workplace dynamics, and a cryptozoology institute with questionable ethics." (f/f implied)

5. Dragon Husbands - Fai lives on a space station in the future and is more than a little surprised to find he's been betrothed from childhood and that his intended is a dragon. (m/m)

6. Eth's Skin - all about selkies and so on, in a slightly-altered British Columbia (queer).

I'd also previously linked to American Captain Comic which is a bitter-sweet comic drawn by one Steve Rogers, but that's now been on hiatus for 6 months so you need to bear that in mind...

Back from WorldCon and back to work at Dysfunction Central Ltd., which remains as chaotic and on-the-edge-of-bankruptcy as before. Only time will tell if we get paid next time payday rolls around.

Anyway, I will be posting something about WorldCon in due course (either tomorrow or Sunday) but in the meantime I wanted to do a little list of things I'm going to be posting about over the next few weeks. Namely some recs of various things, such as the following:

  • 5 webcomics
  • 5 books
  • 5 movies
  • 5 actual paper comics
  • 5 characters I didn't expect to like
  • 5 places I've visited
  • 5 places I'd most like to visit

All in fives, so if anyone has something they'd like me to blather about 5 of, please let me know?

First up then, 5 webcomics I'd recommend:

    1. Tripping Over You - Milo and Liam, navigating the waters of a first relationship (m/m).

    2. SuperCakes by Kat Leyh - as the author describes it, 'a series of vignettes about super-powered girlfriends, May Ai and Mo LaMarck.' (f/f)

    3. Hotblood - centaurs in the Wild West (m/m).

    4. Eth's Skin - all about selkies and so on, in a slightly-altered British Columbia (queer).

    5. American Captain Comic - Steve Rogers (yes, that Steve Rogers) keeps a diary comic which is at times incredibly touching (gen so far).

Day 11 - A show that disappointed you

I think I already answered this one back in February when I ranted about Suits and why me and that show were done.

In other news, I thought I'd take this opportunity to pimp some webcomics - all sorts of awesomeness that some or other of you might find interesting (and all of them update regularly, as far as I am aware)... also, RSS feeds are your friend. ;)

  • Tripping Over You - Milo and Liam, navigating the waters of a first relationship (m/m)
  • The First Law - yes, it's a comic of the Joe Abercrombie novel, with bonus asides from the author.
  • The Young Protectors - teenage superhero in throes of sexual identity crisis meets (much older) gay supervillain (m/m).
  • Artifice - from the same folks as 'The Young Protectors', this is a completed sci fi webcomic about a super-soldier android who defies his mission orders (also m/m).
  • Fox Sister - set in Korea, our protagonist is the sole survivor of an attack on her family by a Kumiho, a shape-shifting fox demoness who has now taken on the shape of her sister (gen so far).
  • Lady Sabre and the Pirates of the Ineffable Aether - pirates, cowboys, steampunk and the eponymous Lady Sabre... (gen so far).
  • Mercenary and Sorceress - what the title says, described by the author as 'fantasy lesbians' and there will be a quest involved (f/f).
  • American Captain Comic - Steve Rogers (yes, that Steve Rogers) keeps a diary comic which is at times incredibly touching (gen so far).
